However, the night took a tragic turn when friends found O’Keefe unresponsive in the snow outside Albert’s home early the next morning.

What Charges Did Read Face?

According to the allegations, Read purposely ran O’Keefe down with her SUV, thereby killing him. The prosecution said that Read drove the car in an intoxicated state, hit O’Keefe, and then went away, leaving him to die in the cold.

As a result of a mistrial, the jury leaves the decision-making process and does not provide a verdict. Besides, the case is handed over to another jury for a new trial.

This means the jurors could not unanimously decide on Read’s guilt or innocence. As a result, the trial will be retried, and a new prosecutor will be appointed to handle the case.
